This case was brought by the Houston and New Orleans offices of the EEOC in August 2001 in U.S. District Court, Western District of Louisiana. The complaint alleged that the defendant violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act by subjecting a female employee to sexual harassment and retaliation.
The case was consolidated with an action brought by the employee (case # 6:00-cv-02249). In January 2002, a settlement was reached in principle, and in September of 2002 a consent decree was entered. The defendant agreed to pay the plaintiff $47,500, to implement training in anti-discrimination law for its employees and contracted doctors, to post notice of discrimination policies and procedures, and to submit semi-annual reports to the EEOC documenting any complaints of harassment or retaliation.
