Case Summary

In September 2003, the EEOC's Baltimore office filed this suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland against the Fullerton Animal Hospital alleging violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. In September 2003, the EEOC's Baltimore office filed this suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland against the Fullerton Animal Hospital alleging violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Specifically, the EEOC alleged that the defendant retaliated against five women by firing them for complaining about sexual harassment and a hostile work environment. In October 2004, the defendant moved for summary judgment but, because the parties were involved in settlement negotiations, the motion was never ruled on and in March 2005 the parties were referred to settlement negotiations before a magistrate judge. In June 2005 the parties proposed a consent decree to the court that was approved. The decree required the defendant to pay $55,000 in total to the five charging parties and to create training programs, post notices and adhere to its existing non-discrimination and non-retaliation policies.

The decree was entered in 2005 and scheduled to last 2007. No further docket entries exist, so the case is closed.
