In August 2005, the New York District Office of the EEOC brought this suit against Revolution Studios and Smile Productions, L.L.C. in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The complaint alleged that the defendant, a movie production company, violated the Equal Pay Act of 1963 and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by paying female employees less than male employees for substantially the same work. The parties settled through a consent decree merely three days after the complaint was filed.

The two year decree, containing non-discrimination and non-retaliation clauses, required the defendant to: provide anti-discrimination training for all supervisory and management personnel, post a notice of non-discrimination, place a copy of the required notice and its anti-discrimination policy in the production manuals for each of its movies, post its anti-discrimination policy, and pay $66,500 to be distributed among nineteen complainants.

The decree was entered in 2005 and scheduled to last 2007. No further docket entries exist, so the case is closed.
