The EEOC's Atlanta District Office brought this Title VII suit against RaceTrac Petroleum, Inc., a Georgia company operating numerous gasoline stations, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, Atlanta Division on March 31, 2006. The EEOC's complaint alleged that RaceTrac discriminated against the intervenor employee for her religious beliefs by not accommodating her religious practices, retaliating against her for complaining about her treatment and ultimately firing her. The intervenor intervened in the suit in July. On November 22, 2006, the parties notified the court of their settlement agreement and in February 2007, the court signed the consent decree. The consent decree enjoined RaceTrac from future discrimination against employees based on religion, retaliating against employees, required posting a notice of compliance with Title VII at its Store Support Center, maintain a Title VII training program for its managers, required to report discrimination to the EEOC and revise its anti-retaliation policy and inform new employees of the policy. The consent decree provided $125,000 in damages for the intervenor and RaceTrac was enjoined from giving the intervenor anything but a neutral reference for other employers when contacted by them. The settlement term was 2 years. The docket sheet does not show any further enforcement; the case was presumably closed in 2009.
