Case Summary

In February 2003, the Seattle District Office of the EEOC brought this suit against Ameripride Services, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho alleging discrimination on the basis of sex in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. In February 2003, the Seattle District Office of the EEOC brought this suit against Ameripride Services, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho alleging discrimination on the basis of sex in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Specifically, the complaint alleged that the defendant discriminated against the charging party, a female applicant, and other similarly situated female applicants by refusing to hire them based on their sex. In July 2003, the charging party intervened in the suit. The defendant filed a motion for partial summary judgment in April 2004 which was later denied in October of that year. After some discovery and scheduling orders, the parties settled in June 2005 through a consent decree. The three-year decree contained a non-discrimination clause and required the defendant to: revise and distribute its EEO policy, provide EEO training for all its supervisory employees, expunge the complainants' personnel files from all references to the charges of discrimination, provide the complainants with neutral employment references, report to the EEOC annually, post a notice of employees' rights, and pay $110,000 to be divided between two complainants. The docket sheet doesn't show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2008.
