Case Summary

The Chicago District Office of the EEOC filed this suit against Glenview Car Wash in September 2005 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The complaint alleged that the charging parties, three male employees, were subjected to harassment and a hostile work environment on the basis of sex in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The complaint also alleged retaliation against the parties which resulted in their termination. In October 2005, the charging parties intervened in the suit. After numerous discovery disputes, the parties reached a settlement and entered into a two-year consent decree in July 2006. The decree, containing non-discrimination and non-retaliation clauses, required the defendant to: pay a sum of $125,500, to be divided among the discrimination victims; post an EEOC-provided notice; keep records of any discrimination complaints; report periodically to the EEOC; and provide annual EEOC-approved training to all its employees. The docket sheet doesn't show any further enforcement took place; the case was presumably closed in 2008.
