Case Summary

In June 2002, the Memphis and Nashville offices of the EEOC brought this Title VII suit against Milan Box Corporation in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. The complaint alleged that the defendant discriminated against the claimants (females) by subjecting them to sexual harassment, laid female employees off, and refused to rehire two female employees in retaliation for their complaints of sexual harassment. The case settled by entry of a consent decree in October 2003.

The three year consent decree required the defendant to refrain from discrimination and retaliation, pay the claimants $90,000 in back pay and damages, post notice, distribute their EEO policy to employees, provide Title VII training for managers and supervisors, give the EEOC reports of compliance, and allow the EEOC access to review their compliance with the decree.
