In February 2001, the EEOC district office in Miami, Florida brought this suit against Geologistics Americas, Inc., a freight and cargo shipping agent, in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. The complaints alleged that three women were discriminated and retaliated against in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Specifically, the women alleged that after they complained about not being given equal training as men, at least one of the complainants was promptly terminated. After extensive discovery, a partially granted defense summary judgment motion, and two attempts at mediation, the parties settled. A consent decree was entered in March 2003.

The defendant agreed to pay $100,000. Only three exhibits from the consent decree are currently available. From these exhibits it is clear that the defendant had to issue a neutral reference letter to one of the aggrieved women, post or distribute an EEO notice, post and distribute the defendant's anti-discrimination policy, provide EEO training, submit semiannual compliance reports to the EEOC, and post or distribute a consent decree notice.
