Case Summary
The New Orleans District Office of the EEOC brought this action in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, against Production Management Industries, LLC. The complaint, filed in February 2001, alleged sex discrimination in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, specifically that Defendant harassed the charging party because of her sex, female, and discharged her in retaliation for protesting and opposing the harassment. In May 2001 the charging party intervened and in March 2002 the case settled. In May 2002 a consent decree was entered.
The decree, valid for two years, required Defendant to pay the charging party a total of $37,500 and expunge her employment record. Defendant was enjoined from discriminating or retaliating in violation of Title VII and required to provide employment discrimination training to its management, and post and distribute a notice of non-discrimination at its facility.
