In July 2006, the Kansas City Area Office and Saint Louis District Office filed this lawsuit against Roswil, Inc., doing business as Ramey's/Price Cutter Supermarkets and RPCS, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri alleging discrimination on the basis of race, African-American, in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Specifically, the complaint alleged that the defendant was subjected to a hostile work environment, and was retaliated against following his complaint by having his hours restricted. Following some discovery, the parties settled the lawsuit in September 2007 through a consent decree.
The three-year decree, containing an anti-discrimination and retaliation clause, required the defendant to: report on complaints, allow the EEOC access for monitoring, post and distribute EEO notice, provide EEO training, inform managers and supervisors that EEO issue management is part of their work criteria, and pay $100,000. The docket sheet does not show any further enforcement; the case was presumably closed in 2010.
