In May 2003, the Little Rock EEOC office, along with the Memphis office, brought this suit against the Saline County Medical Center d/b/a Saline Memorial Hospital in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas. The private party intervened in the EEOC case in April 2004. The complaint alleged that the private party plaintiff, a female employee of the hospital, was subjected to pervasive sexual harassment and the defendant failed to take action in response to her complaints in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.The case was settled in June 2004 by consent decree. The complainant was awarded $43,500; no mention of the harassment charge was to be included in her personnel file, and she was to be given a neutral reference to potential employers. The decree also required defendant to post notice of Title VII rights, distribute its sexual harassment policy to all employees, and to hold a sexual harassment training session. The decree was entered in June 2004 and scheduled to last until June 2007. No further docket entries exist, so the case is closed.
