Case Summary

In May 2005, the EEOC's Philadelphia office filed this suit in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Pediatric Alliance, P.C. alleging violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, specifically that the defendant had discharged a female employee for objecting to a hostile work environment.

The case was referred to mediation in August 2005 as well and by November 2005 the parties had agreed on a consent decree which was subsequently adopted by the court. The decree awarded the charging party $46,000 in damages and enjoined the defendant from discriminating on the basis of sex and retaliating against complainants. It also required defendant to institute training policies regarding sexual harassment and grant access to the EEOC to monitor compliance.

The decree was entered in 2005 and scheduled to last 2007. No further docket entries exist, so the case is closed.
