The EEOC Cleveland office filed this suit on July 29, 2005 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. The suit alleged that defendant Corporate Security Solutions, Inc. discriminated against a female complainant both because of her sex and because of her pregnancy, in violation of Title VII. The complaint also alleged that the defendant required its employees to limit their rights under the law, in violation of Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Equal Pay Act.
In January 2007, the EEOC settled its claim, and a consent decree was entered requiring that the defendant alter its policy of forcing employees to limit their rights. The defendant also agreed to provide training on pregnancy discrimination and report to the EEOC any female employees who were "separated from employment."
The complainant intervened in the suit and filed a complaint on August 12, 2006 which added a Title VII claim and a state law claim to the allegations. The defendant filed a motion for summary judgment, which was denied. In 2007 the intervenor settled with the defendant, but the terms of the settlement are not currently available. Subsequently the case was dismissed. As the consent decree between the EEOC and the defendant was two years, and no further activity appears on the docket sheet, presumably the case closed in 2009.
